Gracias.
24-year-old Aaron Lines, originally from Canada and now one of
Country music's most prominising new stars, has recorded a Country
version of Westlife's ballad "Close" (from the Coast To Coast album),
and it is already receiving favorable reviews. For example, here is
an except from a review of his new album on www.fmsound.net:
'...A few of these tracks are pretty good. "Close" is a sentimental
ballad that actually sounds like something (Kelly) Clarkson would put
on her own debut album, not least because it portrays the
stereotypically "female" side of a romance. Never been kissed like
this, never been held like this—that sort of stuff. Still, for
all
its textbook middle-of-the-road songwriting gloss, Lines invests it
with a lot of heart and succeeds in making it quite stirring.'
Aaron may end up indirectly giving Westlife the U.S. hit they've been
waiting for -- "Close" is one of the songs that are being considered
as the upcoming follow-up single to Aaron's current U.S. Country
hit, "You Can't Hide Beautiful".
With Westlife visitng Nashville, perhaps the time is ripe for them to
re-record "Close" as a duet with Aaron? It would not be the first
time for such a thing; back in 1999, 'N SYNC teamed up with Country
group "Alabama", and their duet version of "God Must Have Spent a
Little More Time On You" was a big hit for both of them.

According to today's Daily Star.
Sexy Atomic Kitten Liz McLarnon has developed an intimate
relationship with Westlife's Kian Egan.
And their pals predict a full-blown romance, i can reveal.
The two pop stars speak regularly on the phone and text each other a
lot. They have also been on nights out together recently.
They are not officially an item yet, but pals believe the friendship
is well on the way to a full-on romance.
One pal told me last night: "Although they're not officially
boyfriend and girlfriend, they're very close and lots of us believe
it could develop into something more soon."
Liz, 21, and Kian,22, have known each other for years.
Liz- now touring Asia- split with Tommy Hibbs after six years in late
2001.
Kian- who heads to Tennessee with Westlife today-split with his
Swedish lover Jessica Forsman last autumn

"He was my first boyfriend"
"Nicky is totally, completely, my life."
"I'm right behind Nicky on this (Westlife), the time's got to be
really right for us. After six years together it's obviously
something we talk about all the time, but neither of us wants to get
married and then never be together in the way a married couple should
be. Until the time is right for us, I don't mind waiting."
"I can't wait for us to have children. Because I think Nicky's going
to be a brilliant father, good fun, really loving and caring."
"Nicky is very shy, very reserved, very quiet."
"I remember our first day at school, in the afternoon, when I went
back home, some of my friends asked, 'What are the guys like?' I
thought of Nicky and said, 'There's only one good-looking guy there,
but I don't think he even noticed me.' That's how it seemed."
"All the girls at our school fancied him like mad, me included. When
I first saw him in his smart new school uniform, his school-bag on
his shoulder, he was kind of posing against the corridor wall."
"I was sporty, I did table tennis and aqua-aerobics, and I had my own
close group of friends. I just remember that we used to look at each
other from our school desks."
"I was really nervous before I met him, but I had a really good time."
"Nicky and my dad get on really well. My dad liked him from the
moment he first met him. He always wants to know what Nicky's up to
and avidly follows the fortunes of Westlife."
Bye
"Nicky's the romantic one of us all. He was once away for Valentine's
Day and he and his girlfriend Georgina were bitterly disappointed
that they weren't going to see each other. He never said anything to
her, but he flew back to Ireland and when she was in the shower he
sneaked into her house and went up to her bedroom and filled it with
balloons. So when she came back into the room all upset that she
wasn't going to see her boyfriend, there he was lying on the bed with
a box of chocolates! It's one of the most romantic things I've ever
heard of and I've always wished the story was about me and that I'd
done it for a girlfriend of mine."

The WESTLIFE singers, SHANE CASE OUT and NICKY BYRNE, are gliding to
marry next year (03), after to have proposed marriage to their
respective fiancèes Chritsmas Day
The Irish singing lady's men requested the hand to him to GILLIAN
WALSH and

communicating to other his

1,1

the First one
Irish minister, BERTIE AHERN, accepted quickly and its wedding will
have
place the next summer. Nicky says, "I put the Vista above to Him by
first time when it was 12 years old. I said to him to my mother whom

the girl with whom she was going to me to marry. She rio '." Shane
proposed
marriage to its fiancèe of two years in its mansion of 1.5 million of
dollars in Sligo, Ireland. He knows Gillian, the premium of his
companion
of group KIAN EGAN, since he was 12 years old also.
Pop's top bloke Bryan McFadden left Westlife at the weekend but only for a short while... The Dubliner joined up with Irish band Fifth Avenue for an impromptu song at the Childline Concert.
Bryan Sings with First Avenue
Fifth Avenue are most recently remembered for their chart topping hit version of Dan Hills' Sometimes When We Touch which went Gold in Ireland and has just gone gold in Sweden.
Bryan Sings with First Avenue
The Dublin band are great mates with Westlife's Bryan who is also a big fan of their music. To the delight of the crowd in The Point Theatre on Sunday he joined the guys on stage as they sang their new single A Different Life. And amazingly this was the first time that a solo member of Westlife performed with another band.
Bryan Sings with First Avenue
Mark Murphy, Manager of Fifth Avenue told ShowBiz Ireland: "Fifth Avenue wrote 'A Different Life' and when Bryan McFadden heard the song he loved it so much that he insisted on performing it alongside Fifth Avenue at the Childline Concert."
Fifth Avenue are releasing a double A side on 21st February 2003 with A Different Life and a funky, uptempo track called Infidelity.
Mark Wills is taking the stage with the UK boy band?
Yes, ma'am.
It's part of a BBC documentary for the UK entitled "Swapping Notes:
Westlife go Country." Wills will headline a concert at the Wildhorse
Saloon tonight along with pop UK sensations Westlife.
The multi-million selling Irish pop act Westlife is in Nashville for
3 days to be transformed into country music artists. Westlife will be
receiving advice from Lee Ann Womack, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, &
Deana Carter on country music. Legendary producer Tony Brown, and
producer Chris Farren are working together with Westlife to record
the classic Kenny Rogers song `Daytime Friends'.

When Sneak printed pictures of Westlife's Kian Egan and Mark Feehily
our partying recently with girls, the mystery of the blonde pawing
Kian was a closely gaurded secret. But Sneak's discovered the
shocking truth - she used to be a topless dancer at a club called
Stringfellows.
Until recently Essex girl Jodie Marsh poledanced at the club 3 nights
a week, but she quit this year to become a model and singer.
But we can't believe that sexy Kian knew her secret when he chatted
her up at celeb club ChinaWhite and offered her a lift.
And a spokesman for Kian said: "He was just enjoying a night out with
Mark and some pals. Rest assured Kian is still single."
Jodie, who has said she was bullied at school for having a big nose,
has apparently also got her eye on Justin Timberlake and Eminem.
She appeared in the recent documentry 'Essex Wives' and said her aim
was 'to be famous'
Well you can star on this page of Sneak for free love!

Bryan Mcfadden wants to be the new Louis Walsh - by managing a new
Irish band.
The singer is informally going behind the scenes as he plans for life
outside Westlife.
The singer has become best friends with new Irish group Fifth Avenue
and is acting as consultant to pass on his knowledge of the music
industry.
It's the career path Bryan wants to take when Westlife finally call
it a day.
It echos what Ronan Keating did for Westlife when he bacame their co
manager alongside Louis Walsh, in the early days.
But Bryan's dicision has nothing to do with Irish pop boss Walsh -
although he is encouraging him to get as much management experience
as possible.
It's further proof that Bryan is now preparing for life after
Westlife.
A couple of weeks ago I told you that he has been doing loads of song
writing and has written Girls Aloud's next single.
A source told me: "A lot of people see Bryan as the joker of the
group. But if you had to pick one to go in to the music business it
would be him."
At the weekend Bryan even sung live on stage with Fifth Avenue at the
Irish Childline concert.
He joined them to sing the band's debut single 'A Different life'

Behind the scenes at the Childline charity gig -
On Sunday the Point Depot in Dublin hosted a special concert to
raise money for kids charity Childline.
Rachel Gibson, reporter on our showbiz programme Newrsound Lite,
took a sneaky peak behind the scenes.
Then she forced herself to go to the after show party and bring back
all the goss for you
The concert was held at the Point Depot in Dublin - a massive venue
that was packed out with 8,000 party-goers.
Moments performing Bryan from Westlife was franticly running around
asking everyone and anyone if they had a pair of shiny black shoes
he could borrow - he only had a matt pair and it didn't go with his
outfit!
And Sam Mumba was still having her hair extensions put in just 10
minutes before she due on stage. But she had her little bro Omera
backstage with her on hand to help out.
Everyone was really friendly, especially Busted. James kept on
coming up and making faces at our camera.
They were full of energy - when we interviewed them they insisted in
playing skittles with a melon and some plastic pop bottles!
We were also hanging out and filming boy band Mankind - and managed
to get themselves on the guest list to the after-show party.
It was held at a place called Lillie's Bordello - a top celeb hang-
out.
We were only there for about half-an-hour when disaster struck and
there was a power cut. Luckily one of the lads from Mankind is also
a trained electrician and saved the day by helping to fix the fuse.
Food was smoked salmon on brown bread and chicken wings carried
around on platters.
The venue was decked out in thick carpets, leather sofas and big
gilded mirrors. Heavy velvet curtains separated the VIP bar from the
main room - but we even managed to talk our way in there too!
The dress style was pretty cool - but loads of the girls looked
really similar, dressed up in really low slung combats tucked into
stiletto ankle boots.
At least two of the Sugababes and 3 of Girls Aloud were wearing
this - it was hard to tell them apart!

It's looking likely that 2003 will be the year of US boyband Natural.
Not only do the five-piece have a sponsorship contract with Burger
King under their belts, but they also recently completed a jaunt
around the UK on the Smash Hits Tour.
Amazingly, things look set to get even better for the well-scrubbed,
all-American lads. Why? Well, they've just landed themselves a slot
supporting Westlife on their forthcoming tour of the UK! Yep, that's
right, fans who've nabbed tickets for the Irish heartthrobs'
nationwide tour will be able to check out not just five hunky pop
studmuffins, but ten!
Natural will be whipping the crowd into a frenzy in support of Shane
Filan and the boys at the following venues: Cardiff International
Arena (April 15th), Birmingham NEC (May 27th), London Wembley Arena
(June 3rd), Manchester MEN Arena (10th), Nottingham Arena (May 16th),
Glasgow SECC (23rd), London Wembley Arena (June 7th), Manchester
Evening News Arena (12th), Newcastle Telewest Arena (July 1st),
Glasgow SECC (8th) and Sheffield Arena (18th).
Meanwhile, due to current commitments in Japan and South East Asia,
where they're huge, Natural's next UK single, entitled Paradise, will
now be released to coincide with the Westlife jaunt.

North West Radio could face the strongest challenge yet to its
decade-long reign as one of the country's most popular local radio
stations.
The company are favourites to retain their franchise in the Donegal
South/Sligo/North Leitrim region, following on from the success of
Mid West Radio in securing their franchise for Mayo/Galway.
However, competition for the North West franchise could come from an
unlikely source, Westlife.
The boy band whose three Sligo members, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and
Mark Feehily are all millionaires, are allegedly part of a rival bid.
According to well-placed sources, the band have given their full
support and backing to a bid by a Dublin radio station to take over
the franchise when the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI)
renew the licence later this year.
Dublin's 98FM was initially linked with the bid, but according to a
spokesperson for the station, they have no involvement.
The other major station in the capital, 104 FM, were not available
for comment.
Meanwhile another Sligo source has been linked to a rival bid for
the franchise. Former North West Radio engineer Rory O'Brien is
understood to be putting together a proposal for the licence. He
declined to comment when contacted.
The BCI confirmed that at the time of going to press no applications
had been received, but according to the commission's spokesperson
this is not unusal. The spokesperson said most parties wait until
the final day of applications before submitting their bid. The
closing date for applications is this Friday, January 25.
The file on each bid will be prepared and will be available for the
public to view from February 7 at the BCI office or via their
website.
Following any submissions by the public the bids will be considered
at a BCI board meeting in late February. If there is more than one
serious bid in the opinion of the board then the process would go to
an oral hearing, possibly in late March, with a decision expected
before May.
North West Radio which first went on the air in 1992, has built up a
loyal listenership and always emerges in the top third of local
radio station listenership figures.
A rival bid from Westlife is rumoured to be aiming at a younger
audience.
This would be in keeping with 104FM's current 16-24 year old market
in Dublin and would also make sense when considering the legions of
young Westlife fans in the North West.
When contacted yesterday (Monday) a source close to Westlife refused
to comment on the story. The band are currently out of the country.
A spokesperson for North West Radio said: "We don't wish to comment
on any other possible applications as none have been lodged yet. But
going on our track-record, we are very optimistic that our
application will be successful".

What first attracted you to Georgina?
Georgina was a very nice, cute, innocent, sweet girl. I felt like Leo
Di Caprio in Titanic, where the not-so-well-off lad is trying to get
with the posh girl whose father is very important. I thought she was
beautiful and she had the most amazing eyes that I'd ever
seen.
When was the first time you saw her?
I saw her across the classroom at school. And straight away I had
to have her. But it wasn't easy. I had to wait about four years!
So Georgina didn't fancy you?
I asked a friend to ask her out. She said no, the bitch! Nah, it
wasn't great – but it was cool.
How did you end up getting together then?
My best mate because asked her best mate Anita. I had no idea because
I
was football training! When he told me, I was upset – I didn't want
to be rejected twice! So I went into school early to stop Anita
saying
anything – but it was too late! Georgina had already said
yes!
Did you have a first date?
She said yes on the Friday, and we went to a party the next night. It
was my birthday the next day. I would have just been turned sixteen.
What's the best compliment she's given you?
I don't know! Erm, I think she likes my personality and I think she
thinks
I'm ok looking – I hope so anyway! We just have fun together; it's a
good laugh.
What's the most romantic date you've ever been on?
We've been on loads! We've been to New York together; we've been to
Pairs, and all over Europe in fact. We've had so many dinners in so
many Dublin restaurants, and candlelit dinners at home, and nights in
with a takeaway and a video, everything is romantic if you're
with the right person!
Is it difficult to be apart so much?
Obviously we phone all the time – you only realise what you've got
when you're away. You don't take things for granted. If Westlife are
working in Europe Georgina will sometimes fly out
for a day or two.
Do you carry anything of Georgina's with you?
I've got a picture in my wallet – oh no, that's one of me – here
this
one! A fan gave me this a few days ago and I've kept it ever since.
I'm so glad that fans can be happy for us, we appreciate the support.
How did it feel when you moved in together?
It was exciting; we'd wanted it for so long. But now it's quite
stressful – it doesn't feel like our house yet because there are
builders everywhere. And we're arguing over where to put the
furniture! Georgina thinks she's in charge! She won't let me watch
football. But I think she's just making a point so I don't spend the
rest of our lives with the remote control in me hand!
What does the future hold?
Surprises. I hope it's A) healthy and B) happy. Wealth isn't
important,
and I know might not always be able to live this lifestyle. One day,
I'll have to decide – will I try for a solo career? Do I want to work
again? Do I want to sit around on my arse playing golf? I hope
Georgina will support me whatever,

Westlife's Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily and Bryan McFadden are set to

January.
The full line-up for the show will include Ireland's Samantha Mumba,
Sugarbabes, Girls Aloud, Six, Busted, Mankind, Broken Hill and Big
Brovaz.
Childline will receive over €200,000 from the concert, which gets
underway at 7pm on Sunday.
To date, the Irish children's charity has received over €1m from
Childline concerts, which have been held annually since 1997.
All those involved with the Cheerios Childline Concert are providing
their services free of charge.

WE never thought we'd see the day when Westlife are happy to admit
they're getting on a bit.
But in an interview which will be screened on cd:uk today, the lovely
Nicky Byrne admitted that the band's music isn't quite what it used
to be.
Amazingly, when the Irish boys were asked if they're surprised that
they weren't nominated for a Brit award, Nicky, 24, replied: "To be
honest with you, I think they're right. I don't think we deserve to
be nominated this year."
We beg your pardon? "I don't think our singles have been as good as
they have been over the past two years," the blond singer
continued. "And I think Will Young or Blue deserve it more."
Extraordinary. Perhaps Mr Byrne is hoping it'll help Westlife avoid
trouble.
You may remember that his naughty bandmate Bryan McFadden got so
drunk at last year's event that not only did he get pulled out of a
live TV interview by boss Simon Cowell, he even started a fight with
the 21-strong So Solid Crew. Westlife were then banned from their own
label's after-show party.
We can't wait to see if no nominations equals no bad behaviour.
Somehow, with the amount of booze usually involved, we think not...

While fans are used to the Westlife boys crooning ballads while
perched angelically on their stools, it would seem that one member
wouldn't mind pursuing a more urban sound?
Speaking to freebie magazine Now UK, Westlife's Mark Feehily admitted
that he's a huge fan of Mercury Prize nominee The Streets,
saying, "That album is brilliant. It's so funny and the guy is
obviously very talented."
Back in their real world, however, old skool Westlife fans will be
glad to hear that Mark and the gang are releasing their cover of
Cliff Richard's ballad, Miss You Nights, in March, once poor old
Shane Filan gets over his glandular fever!

The Sixth Childline concert is set to be the biggest ever after the
announcement that the biggest Irish and International chart-toppers
will attend and the Westlife boys will host the show.
The full lineup will include: Samantha Mumba, Sugarbabes, Girls
Aloud, Six, Busted, Mankind, Broken Hill and Big Brovaz - all will
share centre stage with the unstoppable Westlife lads.
Childline, which is Ireland's No. 1 children's charity, will receive
over €200,000 from the concert and, to date, has benefited to the
tune of over €1m from the previous Childline concerts which have been
held annually since 1997 and have featured such acts as Robbie

This Sunday sees the sixth annual Childline fundraising gig in Dublin
and, once again, the cream of the charts are expected to turn out to
perform.
Among the stars set to strut their stuff at The Point Theatre will be
the Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Westlife and Samantha Mumba. Pop rockers
Busted will also be on hand to tear the roof off, while the Big
Brovaz team will be delivering some of their quirky R&B sounds.
Organisers for the event hope to raise over €200,000 (£133,000) for
the Irish branch of children's charity. The previous five shows have
raised over €1 million.
The sold out show will be hosted by Westlife studs Nicky Byrne, Bryan
McFadden and Mark Feehily, and will be screened on Irish TV channel
RTE.

Westlife linked to radio rivals
North West Radio could face the strongest challenge yet to its decade-
long reign as one of the country's most popular local radio stations.
According to well-placed sources, the band have given their full
support and backing to a bid by a Dublin radio station to take over
the franchise when the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) renew
the licence later this year.
Dublin's 98FM was initially linked with the bid, but according to a
spokesperson for the station, they have no involvement.
The other major station in the capital, 104 FM, were not available
for comment.
Meanwhile another Sligo source has been linked to a rival bid for the
franchise. Former North West Radio engineer Rory O'Brien is
understood to be putting together a proposal for the licence. He
declined to comment when contacted.
The BCI confirmed that at the time of going to press no applications
had been received, but according to the commission's spokesperson
this is not unusal. The spokesperson said most parties wait until the
final day of applications before submitting their bid. The closing
date for applications is this Friday, January 25.
The file on each bid will be prepared and will be available for the
public to view from February 7 at the BCI office or via their website.
Following any submissions by the public the bids will be considered
at a BCI board meeting in late February. If there is more than one
serious bid in the opinion of the board then the process would go to
an oral hearing, possibly in late March, with a decision expected
before May.
North West Radio which first went on the air in 1992, has built up a
loyal listenership and always emerges in the top third of local radio
station listenership figures.
A spokesperson for North West Radio said: "We don’t wish to comment
on any other possible applications as none have been lodged yet. But
going on our track-record, we are very optimistic that our
application will be successful".
