Mark takes to golf during tour
With Sandra Coffey
Westlife’s Mark Feehily has swapped a tennis racket for a golf club
during the band’s Greatest Hits tour.
Mark, a keen tennis player, has taken to the golf course with his
band mates, as a way of relaxing through their world-wind tour.
A source close to the band said: “They have made a deal that every
hotel they stay in must have a golf course or one nearby. They play a
game of golf everyday and are running a league table.
“Mark isn’t a keen golfer but this is a bit of craic and a way to
wind down. At present Bryan is top of the league table.”
Both Shane and Kian are avid golfers.
Mark, along with Shane and Kian took two days off last week to make a
whistle stop visit home.
They flew home after their gig in the Nuremberg Arena in Germany last
Tuesday for a few days rest.
Mark was seen driving around Sligo last week in his jeep.
While Shane and Gillian Walsh are busy preparing for their wedding,
taking place on Sunday December 28.
A source close to the band said: “The lads like to get home whenever
they can. But their visits are nearly always very short, especially
when they are on tour.
Shane revealed this week that he had booked Ashford Castle for the
wedding before he got down on one knee to pop the question to Gillian
from Maugheraboy. The couple were on holiday in Dubai and Shane
proposed on Christmas Day. Mark is the groomsman for the wedding.
Only recently Shane bought an apartment in London, close to Kian, who
bought one in Chelsea just before Christmas last year.
The lads flew back to Germany last Thursday for their gig in Leipzig
the following Friday, April 25.
Sunday, they are in Zurich, Switzerland followed by gigs in Cologne,
Germany and Brussels, Belgium.
After the tour, the band are planning a duet with rock legend Rod
Stewart. This is due to take place sometime in August.
Also catch the band on BBC 1 on Monday night next, May 5. Here you
will see how the band get on when they try their hand at country and
western singing.
