Dear Colleagues 

Please find below the letter I received from Dr. Niede Guidon, General Secretary of the IFRAO-GLOBAL ROCK-ART CONGRESS,  about the infrastutures that will be available for the Congress. 

Personally, I can also guarantee  that we are going to have a fantastic Congress in an extraordinary archaeological site. 

If you missed the previous announcements and you would like to present a paper, a few places are still available in some sessions. Send me, as quickly as you can, the title and a brief summary and I will try to accommodate it.  (see my contact below)

Participants (without) papers will be most welcome. Because the area has so much to offer, they will have a tremendous time.  Complete  your registration in http://www.globalrockart2009.ab-arterupestre.org.br/registration.html

Nevertheless I relay the pledge made by the government of Piauí: everyone will have accommodation and anything necessary for this congress to be a success! Personally, I encourage all of you to attend: it is worth the trip, despite any the current difficulties—what you’ll see is one of the most important legacies that the peoples of Prehistory have left to our society.

Caros amigos,

Mas a região está no fundo do sertão do nordeste, afligida pelas secas, pobreza e falta de infra-estrutura. O governo do Piauí está fazendo todos os esforços para terminar a construção do aeroporto, reforma de hotéis, construção de pousadas, seleção de suítes em residências particulares para hospedar a todos. Telecomunicações e todas as facilidades que a vida moderna oferece, estão sendo preparadas.

Este é um esforço muito grande e pedimos a todos que entendam que não se trata de uma cidade grande, moderna e, portanto, não podemos ainda, informar todas as disponibilidades de alojamentos. Mas transmito vocês a promessa do governo do Piauí: todos terão alojamento e tudo o que é necessário para que o congresso seja um sucesso!

E, pessoalmente, garanto a vocês: podem vir, vale a pena a viagem e as pequenas dificuldades atuais,  o que vocês verão aqui é um dos maiores legados que os povos da Pré-História nos deixaram!

La Fundación Museo del Hombre Americano comunica que el Congreso de la IFRAO será realizado en una region, Parque Nacional Serra da Capivara, notable por su belleza natural y por sus sitios con pinturas, Patrimonio de la Humanidad.

Pero la region está en el fondo del “sertão” nordestino, castigada por las sequias, la pobreza y la falta de infraestrutura. El Gobierno del Piaui está empeñado en terminar la construcción del aeropuerto, reformar hoteles, construir albergues, selecionar suites en residencias particulares para hospedar a todos. Telecomunicaciones y todas las facilidades que la vida moderna ofrece están siendo preparadas.

Este es un esfuerzo muy grande y pedimos a todos que entiendan que no se trata de una ciudad grande, moderna y por lo tanto no podemos aún informar sobre todas as disponibilidades de alojamiento. Pero transmito a cada uno de Uds. la promesa del Gobierno del Piaui: todos tendrán alojamiento y todo aquello que es necesario para el éxito del Congreso.

Yo, personalmente, garantizo a todos, pueden venir, valem la pena el viaje y las pequeñas dificultades actuales, lo que verán aqui es uno de los mayores legados que los pueblos de la Prehistoria dejaron para nuestra sociedad.

La Fondation Musée de l’Homme Américain communique que le Congrès de l’IFRAO sera réalisé dans une région, le Parc National Serra da Capivara, remarquable par sa beauté naturelle et par ses sites archeologiques avec peintures rupestres, Patrimoine de l’Humanité.   .

Mais la région se trouve dans le Brésil profond, elle est atteinte par la sechéresse, la pauvreté et le manque de infra-structure. Le gouvernement de l’Etat du Piaui a engagé tous ses efforts pour finir les oeuvres de l’Aeroport, reformer des hotels, construire des auberges, choisir de résidences privées qui pourront recevoir des hôtes.Telecommunications et autres éléments de confort de la vie moderne sont en train d’être préparés.   

Il s’agit d’um effort considérable et nous vous demandons de comprendre que nous ne sommes pas dans une ville grande ou moderne, c’est pourquoi nous ne pouvons pas encore renseigner sur toutes les options de logement.   Cependant je vous transmets l’engagement du Gouvernement du Piaui: tous seront logés, il y aura le nécessaire dans tous le domaines pour que le Congrès soit um succès

Moi, personnellement je vous assure: vous pouvez venir, le voyage et les petittes difficultés actuelles en valent la peine, vous verez ici un de plus beaux héritages laissés par les peuples pré-historiques.

The Fundação do Museu do Homem Americano wishes to inform all concerned that the IFRAO congress will be held in a region, the Serra daCapivara National Park, remarkable for its natural beauty and rock art sites, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Area.

But, the region is located in the deep “sertão” (hinterland) of the Brazilian northeast, afflicted by droughts, poverty and lack of infrastructure.

The government of Piauí is reinforcing efforts to finish the airport construction to finish the airport construction, hotel renovations, the building of lodging and the selection of guesthouses to accommodate everyone. Telecommunications and all modern day conveniences are being arranged. However, this is an enormous effort and we ask everyone to understand that this is not a large, modern city and therefore we still cannot provide information about all of the accommodation available.
