Dear Colleagues
As you may know, the next world congress of IFRAO - Global Art - is
going to take place between the 29th June and the 3rd of July 2009 in
the northeast of Brazil at “Serra da Capivara National Park”, São
Raimundo Donato in the State of Piauí.
I am hoping to chair a session on “Animals and rock-art” and I am
locking for a co-chairperson (since two people from two different
countries should propose each session) with interest in animal and
zoomorphic figures. The session should deal with papers about any
kind of figures (both paintings or engravings) from all chronological
periods and geographical areas.
The chairperson will be asked to promote the session, to coordinate
the works during the congress (each session lasts a maximum of two
days) and if possible to edit papers submitted for publication. The
papers should be 20 minutes long and there will be an half hour of
questions at the end of the morning and afternoon.
The official languages of the session are English, Portuguese, French
and Spanish.
If you are interested, please contact me off the list.
Other sessions already proposed include the following: Techniques of
Recording and Documenting, Quality Management of Rock-Art Sites , The
Figure of the Warrior in the Rock-Art of the World, Computer
Applications for Rock-Art
If you are interested in proposing a session, presenting a paper or
simply participating, send an e-mail with a short presentation to me
(at the address below) or to the General-Secretary of the IFRAO
Global Art Congress, Dr. Niéde Guidon at globalart2009@ab-
arterupestre.org.br by the 31st of May 2008.
The full list of sessions of the “Global Art” will be posted at the
end of June. Proposal of papers will be accepted until 30th November
2008.
