RI Web site features new look
On 27 June, Rotary International unveiled the latest version of its official Web site, www.rotary.org. The home page's streamlined design features an updated menu to help users navigate easily around the site. In revamping the navigation bar across the top of the home page, the names of several sections were changed and the link to the business portal was incorporated in the bar.
- "Newsroom" replaces the name "News and Information," which features the latest updates about Rotary. The Newsroom also serves as the online home of official Rotary periodicals and Web-exclusive articles.
- "Events" is the new name for the section previously called "Meetings," where information about recent and upcoming events, including the 2003 Presidential Celebrations and the RI Convention in Osaka, Japan, will be featured.
- "Training" replaces "Leadership Development," the section that focuses on the education of Rotary leaders. The Training area also features the E-Learning Center, an online independent-study learning resource for both Rotarians and club officers, and training tips.
- "Club Support," the updated version of "Administrative Services," will continue to provide useful information for Rotary clubs and districts.
- "Member Access" is the new home of the Rotary Business Portal, where Rotary club members can view their contribution history to The Rotary Foundation and manage e-mail subscriptions and other data.
Easy-to-find buttons located above the main navigation bar will also allow visitors to contribute to The Rotary Foundation, shop from the Online Publications Catalog, locate club meeting times and locations ("Club Locator"), participate in various discussion forums, and contact RI staff.
Additionally, the front pages of the Web site's main sections have been redesigned to include featured content such as news updates and other highlights.
"The RI Web site is a highly useful and constantly evolving resource," says Sherry Bondi, RI's Web site manager. "We hope these new features will enhance the online experience of Rotarians and other visitors who are interested in learning more about Rotary."
Rotarians are encouraged to visit and bookmark the Rotary home page on 27 June and to check back often for news updates, highlighted sections of the Web site, and Web exclusive features. Visitors who had previously bookmarked sections of the site may need to update their links after redesigned site is launched.
