Call for entries: ABB International Photography Competition 2000
“What is Knowledge?â€
ABB, the global technology group, is calling for entries to its second international photography competition. The focus of this year’s competition is, “What is Knowledge?â€
Yes, it’s an ambitious theme. How can knowledge be captured in a photographic image? Knowledge is on the one hand an abstract term and open to endless interpretations. At the same time, knowledge takes a clear shape when it is applied, for example, through technology. So knowledge implies both thinking and doing, learning and sharing experiences with others. It is a celebration of pure imagination and of applied technology. Or something else altogether?
Photographers around the world are invited to show their interpretation of this theme. We welcome new approaches to looking at knowledge. Challenge our definition with your own. The best photographs will be published in a high-quality book printed in a limited edition. The winning photos will also be exhibited on the Internet in an ABB Web site gallery throughout the year 2001. ABB will use the book to raise money for charity.
Each winning photograph will be awarded US$ 1,000. The photographers’ work will be fully credited, and there will be a photographers index in the book and on the Internet with contact information. Winning photographers will also receive two copies of the book, and copyright will remain with the image creator.
