Speed Project Presentation
THE STRUCTURE
The IFSC homologated Speed wall is being introduced in summer 2007 and
will be the only wall to compete for the World Record in Speed and the
only wall used for International IFSC Championships.
A test Speed wall has already been in use over the past two years,
specifically at the 2005 World Championship, 2005 World Games, 2006
Asian Championship (4-track version).
The 2007 World Championship will be the inaugural competition of the
new World Record Speed wall.
All Championships from 2008 will use only the homologated speed wall,
as well as any event interested in promoting the World Record in
Speed.
IFSC is finalising the time keeping system and device to be associated
with the Speed wall.
THE LICENSEE PROGRAM
IFSC decided that initially only partner manufacturers will be offered
to produce the homologated Speed wall through a licensee program which
will begin in June 2007.
All needs for the standard wall must go through one of the official licensees.
We are in the final phases of confirming contracts with our partners -
the licensees will be communicated to the public shortly.
FUTURE PROJECTS: THE TRANSPORTABLE WALL
It is also intention of IFSC to establish a special project with its
partner manufacturers, that will consist in the realisation of 3 or
more 4-track Speed walls, in the different continents. These
structures will be purposely designed for easy transportation and
set-up.
Their use will be under the coordination of the IFSC and the
Continental Councils and will involve organisation of World Cups and
other events.
After consideration by the IFSC Management Committee, a meeting will
be scheduled with partner manufacturers in order to implement the
project.
We suggest that partner manufacturers consult each other, in order to
study the project and to formulate proposals at their earliest
convenience
