Presentation of the Nave (La Nef en Francés)



The Nave is a financial organization step like the others

Legally and juridically speaking, nothing distinguishes the Nave from
another credit institution. But it is in the values which it develops that
its singularity continues.

In the action of the Nave to the daily newspaper, the finality it is the
human being.

It is a co-operative company with variable capital . It s?inscrit in the
current of the banks mutualists and co-operatives; its customers are thus
not only users, they are also shareholders ( members ).

Beyond this specificity, the Nave wants to found another report/ratio with
l?argent.

In the contemporary world l?argent is regarded d?abord as a source of
profit. One privileges the best output without worrying about the use which
is made money deposited. Will it finance destroying projects of the
environment or uses, the industry of the armament, the nuclear power?

For the Nave and its members, l?argent is initially a tool of solidarity .
Beyond the financial output of their placement, they privilege the
ecological or social output of their saving.

With the Nave, the money connects savers with borrowers. The savers know
that their money will allow the financing of environmental projects, social
or cultural - who often receive an unfavourable reception in the traditional
banking structure.

Since 1988, the Nave is approved by the Bank of France . It is in addition
affiliated with the Central Case of Co-operative Credit which is not only
its organization of supervision but especially a partner of reference. The
Co-operative Credit is the Bank of the Social Economy (co-operatives, SCOP,
mutual insurance companies, insurances, work's councils, etc).

The project of the Nave is to become the Bank of the Durable Development and
Solidarity.



Values of the Nave

Independence of mind and the regard for the human person

" Any choice of religious, philosophical nature or political changing of
the strict personal freedom " underlines article 1 of the charter of the
Nave.
In the action of the Nave to the daily newspaper, the finality it is the
human being.

Transparency

Each member of the Nave knows for what its money is used. Each borrower
is informed of the will of the savers to act for a more human and
responsible economy.
The Nave publishes each year the complete list of all the loans which it
granted with the co-ordinates of the borrowers, nature, the amount and the
duration of the loan.

Ethics

The Nave selects the projects according to their ecological or social
utility.
In the event of surplus of resources compared to the distributed
appropriations, the Nave resorts to placements of treasury near the French
Bank of Co-operative Credit (which acts in the field of the Social Economy).
It thus takes care that the aforementioned placements are compatible with
its values.

Solidarity

The members of the Nave know that their money contributes to the
construction of a more human and interdependent economy.
They can, in addition, express their solidarity in:
- fixing themselves the rate of remuneration of their saving
- making gift of whole or part of their interests at organizations which
act on the ground to promote the man and his environment.
Solidarity is also expressed in the circles of guarantees around the
borrowers.
