Workshop, that enables its participants to enter into the working process of the choreographic project: MAGMA
MAGMA  is a human mass under continuous construction and deconstruction : it leads participants to approach each other as much as possible whilst keeping their autonomy.
MAGMA brings into play what relates us to one other as human beings, it refers to our planet and to the conditions of human life, and questions society as to our responsibilities in  living together.
 

Workshop Programme:

The workshop has three stages :
1) Warm up : construction of exercises bringing into play weight, balance, energy,  release and contraction.
2) Contact work : 2 or more people have soft contact both on the floor and on the  other participants moving exclusively according to somebody's proposition.  Simplicity in movement and interpretation.
3) Project interpretation: Participants understand  the other participants' intentions, they receive and react to the gestures of the others, adapting their own rythm and breathing, in order to evolve together in the same energy.

Participants : Open to any professional or amateur who has practiced a physical activity ( Dance, circus, theatre, martial arts etc.).

in der Schwelle 7, Berlin

Ziel des Workshops ist es, die Teilnehmer auf eine Mitwirkung bei dem choreograhischen Projekt MAGMA vorzubereiten.
MAGMA stellt eine menschliche Masse in ständigem Auf- und Abbau dar. Sie führt dazu, sich dem Anderen so eng wie möglich zu nähern unter Beibehaltung der eigenen Autonomie.
MAGMA setzt in Szene, was uns als menschliche Wesen verbindet, verweist auf unseren Planeten, auf unsere menschlichen Lebens verhältnisse und stellt der Gesellschaft die Frage nach
der Verantwortung gemeinsamen Zusammenlebens.

Inhalt des Workshops:
Der Workshop läuft in drei Stufen ab:
1) Aufwärmen: Entwicklung von Übungen, die Gewicht, Gleichgewicht, Energie, Entspannung und sich Sammeln ins Spiel bringen.
2) Kontaktarbeit: zu zweit oder mehreren, sanftes Abstützen am Boden und am anderen; sich bewegen je nach den Erfordernissen des jeweiligen Vorschlags. Schlichtheit in der Bewegung und in der Interpretation.
3) Darsteller des Projektes werden: Absichten und Gesten eines jeden einfangen und darauf reagieren; seinen Rhytmus und seine Atmung anpassen um sich gemeinsam in der selben Energie zu bewegen.

Teilnehmer: geeignet für alle, die eine körperliche Aktivitäten als Profi oder Amateur ausüben (Tanz, Zirkus, Theater, Kampfsport usw)

Explorando 'Contact Improv' y 'Danza para Espacios Alternativos'

Por el 3er año bailaremos en la tierra Maya sagrada del Lago Atitlan, Guatemala.  Exploraremos Improvisación de Contacto e investigación en espacios alternativos sobre las orillas del lago Atitlan en Hotel Islaverde (www.islaverdeatitlan.com) y en otros estudios.

Durante este intensivo de una semana exploraremos estas formas del movimiento como manera de conectar con uno mismo, la naturaleza, y la comunidad.  Las clases de C.I. y las estructuras improvisacionales ocurrirán diariamente en el estudio, los jardines, el lago, y las selvas. Celebrando la intención de volver a conectar con la interdependencia de toda la vida - nuestra práctica diaria será un entrenamiento de los sentidos, percepciónes, imaginación, y conciencia que abre nuevos caminos en los espacios internos y externos y que intensifica el conocimiento de nuestras conexiones.


Los días comenzarán con meditaciones de la "danza pequeña" (de Steve Paxton), calentamientos de improvisación, mirando al sol, y/o yoga-vocales. Por las tardes 'jams' con música en vivo vocal-electronica. Durante la semana nos ofreceremos voluntariamente con programas para desarollar el liderazgo de los jovenes locales en las artes, y visitaremos y bailaremos en lugares incluyendo La Cambalacha y Casa Milagro.    Tendremos guías que nos enseñaran sobre la ecología y la cultura local, y crearemos rituales de la danza para honrar la tierra. También habrá muchas oportunidades de nadar, ir de excursión a los volcanes, e ir con barcos a través del lago a los pueblitos Mayas tradicionales.

Mark Moti Zemelman, MFA (EUA) comenzó su práctica de Improvisación de Contacto hace veinte años. Por los últimos doce años ha enseñado y bailado por los Estados Unidos, México, Canadá, Guatemala, Europa y Israel. Sus recientes compromisos laborales han sido en Earthdance (Estados Unidos), DanceBase (Edimburgo), Circuit-Est (Montreal), Zodiak Festival (Helsinki), Villa Sumaya (Guatemala) y Festival Internacional de Contemporánea Lila Lopez (San Luiz Potosi). Él es actualmente profesor de la danza en C.I.C.O. (Centro de
Investigación Coreografica) en el Instituto Naciónal de Bellas Artes en México.  Moti es maestro y miembro del consejo de Earthdance Retreat Center en Massachusetts. Entre sus respetados maestros están: Nancy Stark Smith, Andrew Harwood, Alito Alessi, Ruth Zaporah, Danny Lepkoff, Martin Keogh y Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. Fue miembro original de Wire Monkey Dance Company (Saliq Francis Savage y Jen Polins, directores), y baila con los Silver Swimmers, una compañía con sede internacional.  Tambien Moti toca música electrónica-vocal en muchos contact jams y presentaciones. En el 2006 salió su disco debut "Doorwaves". Otras prácticas incluyen yoga, Teatro de Acción, caminata en zancos, danza moderna y ser payaso. Diseña y modera el nuevo sitio internacional de Improvisación de Contacto -  www.contactimprov.com.

La Improvisación de Contacto es un homenaje a cada momento. Hay una dulce rendición que sucede cuando nuestros cuerpos se mantienen con fe hacia lo que está sucediendo ahora… y ahora… y ahora! En este curso aprenderemos a reconocer y diferenciar los sutiles impulsos en nuestras decisiones y las decisiones de nuestros compañeros. Comenzamos descifrando las claves que damos y recibimos, mismas que nos indican cuando liderar y cuando seguir, cuando subir y cuando bajar, donde tocar, cómo cargar, cuando bajar la velocidad y cuando mantenernos inmóviles. Aprender a mantener la integridad con cada decisión, nunca forzar, nunca apresurar.

Nosotros a esto le sumamos una inversión aproximada de comida por día,

                                                  El camping ofrece para alquilar dormitorios a compartir

DANCEABILITY - docente: Alito Alessi (Estados Unidos)

Es danza integrada, intercambio de experiencias y cuerpos diversos donde todos pueden bailar y experimentar en movimiento. Personas con discapacidad, docentes, bailarines, estudiantes de danza, estudiantes de pedagogías, psicomotricistas, artistas, deportistas, trabajadores del cuerpo en general, se reúnen a bailar e investigar diversas posibilidades de movimiento. Danceability trabaja para eliminar los prejuicios que inhiben la diversidad cultural y artística hacia la educación, comunicación y el arte performático. El propósito es cultivar el desarrollo de la danza y la expresión creativa en movimiento de todas las personas. Trabajando sobre la comunicación verbal y física se puede desmantelar barreras sobre las potencialidades físicas y creativas de las personas con capacidades diferentes. Todos trabajan de manera igualitaria, bailarines con y sin experiencia y personas con discapacidad  se reúnen con expectativas comunes; el desarrollo del movimiento y su capacidad expresiva.

Danza en improvisación, que desarrolla un estado de escucha y de atención en relación a los propios impulsos de movimiento, a la relación de apoyo con la tierra y a los movimientos de los otros. Es una profunda exploración del uso del peso del cuerpo para el movimiento, de cómo reaccionamos frente al toque, del estado del cuerpo en caída y del espacio en sus tres dimensiones. Sentir el peso del cuerpo, la gravedad, rolar, caer cuando nos movemos danzando con la tierra y con los otros, en improvisación.
Trabajar el Contact Improvisación es una desarticulación de prejucios sobre las posibilidades de nuestro cuerpo y del cuerpo del otro. Promoción de la práctica y el entendimiento de una relación igualitaria y democrática, sin roles fijos, sin edades y sin géneros que limiten la acción.

Dear Contact dancers
The contactfestival freiburg will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
The dates are August 10-16, 2009
Invited teachers are Keith Hennessey (US), Paul Langland (US), Scott Smith (GB),
Ka Rustler (GER) and about 20 more international CI teachers.
Paul will teach as well the pre workshop August 1 - 6, 2009
Keith will give the post workshop August 18 - 22, 2009
The full program will be updated in March at www.contactfestival.de
But check it out earlier - there will be many surprises for our anniversary.


   One is a *video competition "CI in Unusual Sites and Situations".*
   With this activity, we wish to encourage CI dancers
   to bring the dance to new places and into new situations,
   to challenge yourself and to challenge the outside world,
   to spread new seeds.
   We keep 3 places reserved for the winners of this contest.

   Prizes:
   1st prize: 1 place guaranteed including free entry
   2nd prize: 1 place guaranteed including half price reduction
   3rd prize: 1 place guaranteed
   (all prizes are valid only for the contactfestival 2009)

   Conditions:
   * You dance Contact at an unusual place or in an unusual situation.
   * You video tape it (max. length 5 minutes), the video does not need
       to be on an artistically high level, important is the idea and
   its execution/documentation.
   * You upload the video on our "contactfestival community" site
   commenting your idea and execution with a few sentences
   * Only one video per person..

   Deadline:
   All videos which are uploaded till *15th March 09* are considered to
   take part in the competition.

Dear Teachers of Contact Improvisation around the world!

We are glad to announce that West Coast Contact Improvisation Festival
(WCCIF) has transformed itself! We are still located in Berkeley,
California, but the organization and the festival structure went through a
big overhaul after 20 years. We are accepting applications to teach single
classes and 5-day intensives at WCCIF 2009 from any teacher of CI around
the world! Please read more about festival changes at the end of this
letter.

DEADLINES
Completed application with photo due: Sunday, December 28, 2008 midnight
Pacific Time.
(NO EXCEPTIONS.)
All Applicants will be notified by: January 16, 2009.

PLEASE SAVE THESE 2009 DATES
April 26: National Dance Week Promotional Show at CounterPULSE Theater,
San Francisco.
Festival Dates:
June 30 & July 1st: West Coast CI Teachers' Exchange (WeCITE)--an event
for current and returning CI teachers to share and exchange ideas on
teaching the form, creating an atmosphere and intention for the festival.
Food provided.
July 2-7: WCCIF
July 8: WrapUp--a day for evaluation, dialogue, reconnecting as teacher
community, harvesting, and visioning for the future. Food provided.

2009 WCCIF PAY STRUCTURE
Intensive teachers: $500 + up to $500 travel support for 3 teachers, +
free participation in all events including WeCITE and WrapUp (food
provided at the pre- and post- events)
Single Class teachers: $100 + up to $100 travel support for 9 teachers, +
free participation in all events including WeCITE and WrapUp (food
provided at the pre- and post- events).

Teachers who come from abroad and need more travel support: we are happy
and willing to provide you an invitation and support letter that will
enable you to apply for grants for travel support.

WCCIF MISSION STATEMENT
WCCIF curates an annual festival and adjunct events to provide high
quality Contact Improvisation (CI) dance training, teaching, and research.
Our events provide flexible structures for the continued evolution of CI
as a distinct artform. WCCIF acts as a regional locus for the continued
world-wide exchange and development of CI practice, performance and
exploration. We offer learning and teaching opportunities on multiple
levels, encompassing a cross-section of communities interested in dance,
improvisation, somatic movement and performance. Financial assistance,
diversity representation and physical accessibility are permanent aspects
of our programming and decision-making. A portion of WCCIF events are
dedicated to sharing CI with the general public as both audience and
participants. Through regular evaluation and implementation we sustain our
capacity to inspire and challenge both the professional artist and the
beginning mover and provide an environment that cultivates new generations
of teachers and performers.


PLEASE NOTE THESE FESTIVAL CHANGES
--WCCIF no longer has residency requirements for any teachers and is no
longer representing a region, but is a regional locus for world-wide CI
exchange.
--WeCITE and WrapUp (evaluation & dialogue day) have been added as pre-
and post-festival teacher events at which all attendees are provided with
food.
--Teachers are paid set fees rather than a variable portion of profits.
For that fee, doing a couple logistical tasks in addition to teaching is
required.

will be  a new english and german version.

* I would like to change chapters and put in new photos - and give the
*/_contact-comunity_/* the chance to *_take part_* in this process.

So I would be very pleased if you could send me (the best by e-mail
first, then by mail for the publisher...) - good colour photos of your
dances...

If you do so, please add:

- name of dancers (if not too much, f.e. jams...),

- date, if it is a performance: name of piece / company etc..,

- written autorisation that I can use it in the book (I did this with
every photo in the present book).

- In addition if you have comments or proposels what else to put in the
book - feel free to communicate!

- Also: I will actualize all the addresses (akademies, studios
associations) - so please mail me if you want to be in ...

- All is needed until chistmas!!! (I know it is short of time but the
publisher told me very late...)

Por el 3er año bailaremos en la tierra Maya sagrada del Lago Atitlan, Guatemala.  Exploraremos Improvisación de Contacto e investigación en espacios alternativos sobre las orillas del lago Atitlan en Hotel Islaverde (www.islaverdeatitlan.com) y en otros estudios.

Durante este intensivo de una semana exploraremos estas formas del movimiento como manera de conectar con uno mismo, la naturaleza, y la comunidad.  Las clases de C.I. y las estructuras improvisacionales ocurrirán diariamente en el estudio, los jardines, el lago, y las selvas. Celebrando la intención de volver a conectar con la interdependencia de toda la vida - nuestra práctica diaria será un entrenamiento de los sentidos, percepciónes, imaginación, y conciencia que abre nuevos caminos en los espacios internos y externos y que intensifica el conocimiento de nuestras conexiones.


Los días comenzarán con meditaciones de la "danza pequeña" (de Steve Paxton), calentamientos de improvisación, mirando al sol, y/o yoga-vocales. Por las tardes 'jams' con música en vivo vocal-electronica. Durante la semana nos ofreceremos voluntariamente con programas para desarollar el liderazgo de los jovenes locales en las artes, y visitaremos y bailaremos en lugares incluyendo La Cambalacha y Casa Milagro.    Tendremos guías que nos enseñaran sobre la ecología y la cultura local, y crearemos rituales de la danza para honrar la tierra. También habrá muchas oportunidades de nadar, ir de excursión a los volcanes, e ir con barcos a través del lago a los pueblitos Mayas tradicionales.

Mark Moti Zemelman, MFA (EUA) comenzó su práctica de Improvisación de Contacto hace veinte años. Head of Business Planning & Financial Control with a reputable bank here in U. A. E. I write you this proposal in good faith, believing that I can trust you with the information I am about to reveal to you. I have an urgent and very confidential business proposition for you. On November 6, 2000, an Iraqi Foreign Oil consultant/contractor  with the CHEVRON PETROLEUM CORPORATION, MR MOHAMMAD AL NASSER made a (Fixed deposit) for 36 calendar months, valued at US$17,500,000.00 (Seventeen Million Five hundred Thousand Dollars only) in my bank and I happen to be his account officer before I was moved to my present position recently.


 
Upon maturity in 2003, as his account officer and as well the Planning & Financial officer, it is my duty to  notify him on the maturity date so I sent a routine notification to his forwarding address but the letter was returned undelivered. After sometime, I tried sending back the letter, but it was again returned and finally I discovered from his contract employers, Chevron Petroleum Corporation that .Mr. Mohammad Al Nasser died as a result of torture in the hand of Saddam Hussein (former Iraqi President) during one of his trips to his country Iraq, as he was accused of leaking information to the Americans. On further investigation, I discovered that Mr. Al Nasser's family wife and two sons died during the Gulf War in Iraq and was the reason why he did not declare any next of kin or relation in all his official documents, including his Bank Deposit paperwork in my Bank and did not leave any WILL.

 

This sum of US$17,500,000.00 have been floating and placed under dormant/unserviceable account by my bank management since no one have heard from the owner since 2003. I wish to let you know that all the investigation I have made so far, my bank management is not aware of it, I am the only one that have the information. With the recent change of government in my country and with their efforts to support the United Nations in checkmating terrorism aid in the U. A. E. By end of this year, the government will pass a new financial control law which will give the government authority to interrogate account owners of above $5,000,000.00 to explain the source of the funds, making sure it is not for terrorism support. If I do not move this money out of the country immediately, by end of the year the government will definitely confiscate the money, because my bank cannot provide the account owner to explain the source of the money.

 

I cannot directly transfer out this money without the help of a foreigner and that is why I am contacting you for assistance. As his Account Officer to late Al Nasser,coupled with my present position and status in the bank as Head of Business Planning & Financial Control, I have the power to influence the release of the funds to any foreigner that comes up as the next of kin to the account, with the correct information concerning the account, which I shall give you.  All documents to enable you claim this fund will be carefully worked out and there is practically no risk involved, the transaction will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of law, beside U. A. E is porous and anything goes. If you accept to work with me, I want you to state how you wish us to share the funds in percentage, so that both parties will be satisfied. If you are interested, contact me as soon as you receive this message so we can go over the details. Thanking you in advance and May God blesses you. Please, treat with utmost confidentiality. I shall send you copy of the deposit certificate issued to Al Nasser when the deposit was

Cómo ya sabreis, CI36, la celebración de CI más importante de los últimos 10 años (y quizás de los próximos 10) tendrá lugar este año entre el 12 y el 18 de junio en Juniata College en Pensilvania, EEUU, y todavía quedan plazas abiertas.

CI36 no pretende ser un evento aislado para celebrar este cumpleaños con un grupo selecto de fundadores, profesores y practicantes de los EEUU. Es una invitación a toda la comunidad mundial de CI para que participe en esta celebración organizando "eventos satelite" en sus ciudades durante 2008. Dear Practitioners and Supporters of Contact Improvisation,

As you heard already, CI36, the most important CI celebration of the past 10 years (and maybe following 10) will happen this year, June 12-18 at Juniata College in Pennsylvania US. The event still has spaces available.

CI36 is not meant to be a single event celebrating this birthday with a selected group of founders, teachers and practitioners in the US. The worldwide CI community is invited to be part of this celebration by organizing 'Satellite Events' in their hometown during 2008. Create your own event  (and register it on the web) to celebrate with us! We at Juniata College will celebrate the existence of 36 years of Contact Improvisation with 3 Special Events on the weekend of June 14/15. Those Events are open for simultaneous worldwide participation:


Global Underscore Solstice
Saturday June 14, 2008,  11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (EST - New York time).

The annual "Global Underscore Solstice" will take place as part of the CI36 Celebration  events, during the weekend of June 14th and 15th, facilitated by Nancy Stark Smith.

The Paris Underscore Solstice team has been organizing an annual global Underscore near the summer solstice for the last 8 years. This year, CI36 is happy to join the circle. The Paris Underscore Solstice team will continue to coordinate the event, and CI36 will keep you informed of the progress on our website.  

Nancy Stark Smith will give a talk about the Underscore on Friday June 13. This talk will be videotaped and then put on the CI36 website through the weekend under the Satellite Events page for those who wish to review or to discover the phases of the practice.

From June 8 – 18, Contact Improvisation will be celebrating its 36th Anniversary at Juniata College in Pennsylvania. Following that event, Intercontinental Contact will offer an opportunity to dance and dialogue with improvisers from around the world. Welcoming attendees of CI36 and others who were not able to attend the event, we will organize a multi-faceted week of activities. In our first 3 days (Friday through Sunday), we will offer classes, workshops, jams, and discussions led by a variety of International CI teachers who have come to the US for CI36.

 

The following 4 days will offer two options: option #1 is an in-depth intensive with K.J. Holmes and Ray Chung, option #2 is a facilitated labbing structure for those who wish to explore the form in a more self-directed environment.
