To celebrate the end of the first leg of the World Tour, we are showing a ranking of the 21 finalists online for one week. We've done this twice already, after our visits to the Alhambra and to the Taj Mahal. Now, after visiting the only one of the Ancient Wonders still standing, the Pyramids, it's time to count the votes again and see how the race is going.

Amazing, but true -- the New7Wonders World Tour is starting on its last big journey. After visiting the European and Asian/Australian finalists last year, the N7W team was in the desert for January. At first, we marvelled at the incredible, sandy city of Timbuktu, which has one of the oldest universities in the world. A week later, we walked down Petra's long, long Siq canyon until suddenly the huge, rose facade of the ancient treasury building came into sight,
known to millions of adventure-lovers as the place where Indiana Jones made his name. And the highlight -- Jordan's lovely, smart and dedicated Queen Rania al-Abdullah accepted the N7W certificate! Then, last week, N7W honored the only one of the Ancient 7 Wonders still standing, the Pyramids at Giza. Along the way, as always, we met many amazing people, from Timbuktu's welcoming Imams who awarded Bernard Weber with the long-legendary "white turban" honorary doctorate
to the rugged-faced Bedouins who entertained us, singing that "Petra should be a New Wonder" during a traditional dinner in their tents near the rose-red city.
Check out the many amusing and interesting things that happened during the trip, including visits to the Royal Automobile Museum in Amman and the incredibly preserved manuscripts in Timbuktu, or, looking back, the honor of a private candlelight dinner next to Angkor Wat and
discovering the taste of a lamington, the sweet Australian treat, in Sydney. Read about them in the behind-the-scenes Founder's Blog!
