CALL FOR PAPERS
The International Journal of Architectural Computing (IJAC)
is a peer-reviewed journal founded by international organizations dedicated to promoting collaborative research and development of computer-aided
architectural design. IJAC is committed to expanding the understanding of the foundations of digital systems for architectural design and the
technologies enabling their development and application.
IJAC publishes 4 issues a year in both electronic and hard copies. Successively, one issue each year is supervised by Editorial Board members from
its four founding organizations: Education and Research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe (eCAADe), the Association of Computer
Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA), Sociedad Iberoamericana de Grafica Digital" (SIGraDi), and Computer Aided Architectural Design
Research in Asia (CAADRIA). Andre Brown is the General Editor in Chief <andygpb@...>.
The journal features high-quality, original research papers (including state-of-the-art reviews), brief papers, and letters in all theoretical and
technology areas that make up the field of Architectural Computing.
The focus for the next ACADIA supervised issue of IJAC will be Digital Design and Fabrication. For this issue we are soliciting papers on digital
design fabrication and construction technologies, along with papers that reflect on its application in design theory and practice.
We are currently soliciting papers on:
*theoretical historical context for digital fabrication in architecture
*taxonomies of digital fabrication technologies and techniques
*creative methods utilizing digital fabrication technologies and techniques
*case study research, practical application and built works
*impact to architectural practice and the design-construction process.
*application of digital fabrication to sustainable building and social and economic problems
IJAC Paper Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit complete and original papers, which have not been published elsewhere and are not currently under consideration for
another journal or conference.
Each manuscript prepared for IJAC must fall into one of the following categories:
(1) Original research papers - Articles will be full-length papers (3000 - 5000 words, maximum length 6000 words) reporting well-defined system
implementation, theoretical results and empirical studies that have potential impact on understanding of computational, cognitive, and physical
foundations, as well as the enabling technologies for developing and applying Architectural Computing systems. It is assumed that the ideas
presented are important, have been well implemented, analyzed or empirically validated, and are of value to Architectural Computing research
community.
(2) State-of-the-art reviews - Articles can also be state-of-the-art reviews, which will be either perspective tutorial articles in rapidly evolving
fields or comprehensive scholarly reviews of significant topics.
(3) Brief papers - A brief paper presents results that are important and original and are presented in concise form.
(4) Letters - A letter is used to convey only a few principal ideas or to comment on work previously published in the IJAC or other Architectural
Computing conferences and journals.
The manuscripts submitted to IJAC are subjected to a rigorous review process handled by the Editors-in-Chief and designated Editorial Board
Member(s). In order to facilitate the review process, authors are required to mark the topics (in the email correspondence) to which their
submissions are most relevant.
Please refer to the publisher web site for author instructions.
