KEVIN: Hi, I'm Kevin Richardson from the Backstreet Boys and I would
like to welcome you to the Doritos Sessions. Today our guest is MISS
KRYStAL HARRIS. She is the first artist on our very own record
label, KBNHA Records. Krystal, how are you doing today?

KRYSTAL: I'm going really good. How are you?

KEVIN: I'm doing all right.

KRYSTAL: Yeah?

KEVIN: Good, um. I know a lot of these answers of course, because,
we're buddies. (KRYSTAL giggles.) But ah, for all those people put
there that do not know, how old were you the very first time you sang
in front of an audience?

KRYSTAL: Umm, I was two years old.

KEVIN: Hold on now, two years old?

KRYSTAL: Yes! I went on the road with my family.

KEVIN: What were the occasions?

KRYSTAL: Ha, the occasions. The occasion was that my Mom
said, "Krystal is ready to come out on the road with us." So, we
went out as a family; at two years old.

KEVIN: And do you have any vivid memories of that image?
(laughter from both Kev and Krys)

KRYSTAL: I do remember what song I sang but, I played tambourine and
sang.

KEVIN: What song did you sing?

KRYSTAL: I sang "I hear the sound of the army of the Alora." (She
actually sang the lyrics during the interview!) A church song.

KEVIN: So, gospel is your roots?

KRYSTAL: Absolutely. It's all the roots I got really. (At this point
she looks up with a beautiful smile and laughs a bit.) Growing up,
that was all I really ever did was sing in church.

KEVIN: When did you realize that you had a gift?

KRYSTAL: I was seven years old. I did my first talent competition.
Which was something I had never done before and I remember seeing
people crying and people with their hands up and people that were
just standing up looking. Like you know, but I remember just seeing
that kind of reaction and the smiles on people's faces and it made me
realize this is serious business. It is not just something I do for
fun; this is something that I am supposed to do with my life.

KEVIN: How did you get here? How did you get here right now, sitting
with me?

KRYSTAL: Well, about four years ago, I met a guy who is now my
manager and a personal friend of yours; who's name is Mookie. I met
him through a guy I had met just randomly in Indianapolis. We got us
backstage together at a concert.

KEVIN: What concert?

KRYSTAL: Am I allowed to say NSYNC? Because, it was.

KEVIN: Yeah, you're more than welcome to say NSYNC.

(laughter from both Kev and Krys)

KRYSTAL: It was NSYNC.

KEVIN: I'll strangle them later.

(laughter from both Kev and Krys)

KRYSTAL: No, no. I wasn't there to see them, I was there to see
Mook.

KEVIN: It's all good baby. I love those guys, they are so very
talented!

KRYSTAL: I know and I love them too. Little did I know, that at the
time, he had been producing a lot. Like, he had been producing from
everyone from Timberland to Genuine, Don L. Jones, all them people.
All the way to Backstreet. We were on the phone one night and he
said that he had just thought about calling you. And you were like
hey, um, let me call you back because we've been wanting to start our
own label. And all those labels are cool; but we want Krystal to be
herself, we don't want to change her. We want to let her do her
thing and ah, because of all the things y'all have been through. So,
that's when my life started to change. (laughs a bit)
