* Abstract
Lean Manufacturing is the leading method to improve operations today. It
is both a philosophy and an extensive set of tools to change the strategy
of traditional manufacturing. Originally derived from the Toyota Production
System, it has been studied, developed and applied in almost any industry
worldwide.
The presentation will give a general overview of the history, the
philosophy and a selection of the tools. It will follow the same order as a
typical Lean transformation in a company: A stable and robust process, Just
in Time production, Built in Quality and Continuous Improvement.
The selection of tools will be explained in the context of each phase.
Among others: Value Stream Mapping, definitions of the 7 forms of Waste,
the concept of Takt, Line balancing, the concepts of Push, Pull and Flow,
Kanban, Andon systems, Poke Yoke, 5S, Kaizen and Hansai.
The presentation will give the participants an extensive overview of Lean
Manufacturing. This will enable you as a listener to identify possibilities
to use Lean in your own specific situation. 

* Speaker
Rienk Gerritsen is the director of Le Maire Lean, a consultancy company
specialized in improving processes by applying the Lean philosophy. 
As a manufacturing manager in a bio-pharmaceutical production company in
the Netherlands, Rienk has had extensive training and experience with Lean
Manufacturing in a complex and highly regulated production environment. 
Since October 2008 Rienk moved to Argentina to give advice and training on
the subject, to companies that are improving their processes.
