On International Human Rights Day 2008 Free Tibet launched 'The Tortured Truth', a report revealing the tragic reality of how China uses torture as a weapon to suppress the Tibetan people. Despite China's claims that torture is prohibited, 'TheTortured Truth' exposes how torture is routinely practised in Tibet.
The UN Committee Against Torture also delivered a damning assessment of China's record on torture on 21 November 2008. The report revealed the drastically deteriorating record of abuse inside Tibet. Published 10 December 2008

The forced degeneration of the Tibetan language has been an issue for those interested in preserving Tibet's unique culture for some time.
